OK, so I sort of hit a plateau in my post baby weight loss so I decided I needed to kick it up a notch. I still have like 10 lbs to lose to get to my pre baby weight and another 10 or so wouldn't be so bad to lose either! Since I am still breast-feeding and plan to do so for at least another 3 months I can't cut calories. So I am doing two things...
The first is EA Active for the Wii. Holy moly, what a workout. It is basically like a personal trainer on a video game. It comes with resistance bands for your arm workouts. There are over a hundred workouts varying from easy to hard and short to long that you can do, depending on what you want to focus on. I tried a muscle toning workout level hard...O my gosh, I was so sore the next day I could barely get up from my chair. Now that I do it about 3 times a week it doesn't make me as sore though. I usually can get a 30 min workout plus a shower in during one of Madelyn's naps.
The second is walking/running. My prego friend Krista and I have decided to train for a "sprint" triathalon once she is all recovered from having her baby. I have a mini-advantage in that I am able to "pre train" right now. But I am pretty sure she could run longer than I could before she got prego, so I think we will be more on the same level once she is ready to get out there. At least I hope so...I have never been one to run, I don't think I have run more than 1 mile since highschool. I like the elliptical machine, NOT the treadmill! Luckily we have some enjoyable trails close to our house. Today I walked/ran 4 miles. I would say I probably ran 1.5 of those miles, in short segments...woohoo!
So a sprint triatholon consists of (according to wikipedia) 5km run (3.1 miles), 20km bike (12.4 miles), 750 m swim (0.47 miles). Training shoul dbe interesting! I'll keep you all updated.
